Energy Materials and Electrochemical Systems Laboratory

Where materials chemistry meets electrochemical engineering

Welcome to Prof. Wang’s Research Group!

The Energy Materials and Electrochemical Systems (EMES) group, led by Prof Anqi Wang, focuses on the function-led design and synthesis of advanced organic and polymeric materials for electrochemical processes and systems. We create new types of well-defined (macro)molecular structures by combining synthetic organic chemistry, living controlled polymerization, supramolecular interactions, and advanced processing methods. Through this approach, we control material structures across multiple length scales—from atomic arrangements to self-assembled nanostructures and interfaces in macroscopic composites—and explore their fundamental correlations with materials properties and functions. Ultimately, we invent electrochemical technologies that harness these functional materials to address critical challenges in energy, chemical separation, and resource recycling and recovery.
